The Birthing Project now has three e-mail based groups that will allow members, staff, participants and supporters to connect from any location! JOIN IN!

Special Projects

Mississippi

In Mississippi, five new Birthing Projects are starting. All of them are different expressions of the communities they represent.

The mother of the Mississippi Birthing Project is Attorney Constance Slaughter-Harvey, first African American to graduate from law school at Mississippi State University. It has been amazing to witness her use her credibility, leadership and passion to co-ordinate this statewide effort in such a short period of time.

The Mississippi Sister Friend Delegations will travel to Mississippi 4 times a year to be of service to the Mississippi Birthing Projects.

• SisterFriends-at-large are needed to mentor adolescent and teen girls who are not and have not been pregnant…and teens and women who are pregnant. These special SisterFriends will stay connected to their “little sisters” by phone, mail and hopefully, our e-mail project will come to fruition.
• 
  Sisterfriends are needed to volunteer in the literacy program. This will involve reading to children and adults and helping them in their homework assignments.
• 
  Sponsors are needed to collect books, gifts for the project participants and money to help cover the costs.
